Why should you take a course from Ink N Quill

  • Here at the Ink N Quill (INQ), we pride ourselves on having dedicated professional writers who understand the trials and tribulations faced by writers! This means we know what it takes to go from first draft to finished projects and will support you in developing groundbreaking ideas.

  • Our courses are self-led, with content paced over twelve weeks (or longer in some cases) and audio lectures that can be downloaded and replayed.

Once or twice, depending on the module, tutors will check in on students and their progress. We aim to support every student's needs and are always available through email.

  • Students will gain a unique perspective on theory and apply these applications to your creative practice through a series of creative writing tasks. In every assessment you'll be asked to write, reflect and critically contextualise your work in a given framework.

  • We know how stressful exams can be for various individuals, so we have taken a no-exam approach to developing our courses, providing you instead with authentic, real-world assessments which help develop you as an intentionally disruptive creative practitioner.

A student will be allowed up to three submissions of a specific module. We provide detailed feedback upon each submission.

  • We understand that education is not cheap, and for most, higher levels of education are a privilege. With university fees going up and limited access to post-14 education, we offer affordable engagement with critical theory and developing creative practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We blend critical theory and creative practice. Imagine these are pools from which you can take. Our approach allows you to take from critical theory and innovative practice, marry them together, and develop yourself as a critically aware practitioner.

  • We understand these terms together can be weird and feel like a series of buzzwords glued together.

Being intentionally disruptive means that our writers can understand the theory behind a piece of writing and understand how to disrupt the status quo effectively, and this creates dynamic, engaging narratives.

  • These are available for download and streaming on the website itself. These should come as m4a files.

  • Students can have 1-2-1s on any content they have missed. If students fall behind, they have as long as they need to catch up.  Students can receive as much support as they need to access and achieve through the curriculum.

  • Intersectional creative writing means that individuals can understand their own experience, and those of others, to create writing unique to their individual experiences but backed with the research skills to centre other experiences too.

  • Neurodivergent learners are supported through 1-2-1 support where needed, up to three submissions, and the tutors will be happy to help accommodate through further explanations on content. If students need further accommodations, please contact the module leader.

  • Students can have as many explanations as they need through email or dedicated 1-2-1 support.

  • You will be for some of our modules, but this will only be occasionally in live workshops and check-in sessions.
